Our recorders are manufactured in France by our subsidiary Sefram, which has specialized in designing and manufacturing data acquisition recorders for more than 70 years.

What file format do the recorders export the data in?

The DAS220/240, DAS30/50/60, and DAS1700 all export data as a custom recording file with a .rec extension. These files can be opened and converted into a binary, CSV, or text file using the free SeframViewer software. The DAS1800 saves data as a Measurement Data Format file with a .mdf extension. This file type can be opened with DASpro and any third party software supporting ASAM MDF4.

What software is available for B&K Precision recorders?

B&K Precision offers a variety of free software tools for viewing recorded data or remotely controlling a B&K data acquisition recorder. For the DAS220/240, DAS30/50/60, and DAS1700, SeframViewer is the primary software provided for viewing all recording files (.rec) with the same tools found on the instrument’s viewer. For the DAS1800, DASpro serves as a file viewer for the measurement data files (.mdf). SeframPilot and PilotSefram are dedicated software for remote control of the DAS30/50/60 and DAS1700 respectively. Although there is no dedicated software for remote control of the DAS220/240 and DAS1800, all of B&K Precision recorders support free graphical desktop sharing tools such as VNC.

Can I record data directly to a computer or other external device including USB?

Data can only be recorded directly into the instrument’s solid-state memory. However, all instruments include a comprehensive file system, allowing users to transfer files through USB or remotely using FTP.
